Understanding how environmental stressors impact people’s health and identifying risk factors can help create targeted policy actions that make the best use of limited resources. Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) can support development of new policies or help improve existing ones based on up-to-date evidence.

The METEOR Working Group on exposure response analysis created an inventory of exposure-response functions for different environmental exposures assessed across the METEOR projects, including air pollution, chemical exposures, noise, green spaces and temperature.

The inventory is accompanied by a background document that provides an overview of HIAs and considerations for choosing exposure-outcome pairs and exposure response functions for HIAs. Both the inventory and document can be found on the METEOR Resource Page, as well as an infographic to guide users.

METEOR is a cluster of five Horizon Europe projects researching the health impacts of environmental stressors such as air, chemical and noise pollution, and their related socioeconomic costs. METEOR’s work takes places in 6 working groups together with partners from different fields to synergise the outcomes from each project and support harmonised approaches to addressing environmental stressors and their harms on human health.
